LA COSA (Malasomma + Tuktu)
live set
“The thing” is a multifaceted creature formed by Malasomma and Tuktu & the Belugas Quartet. Tuktu and the Belugas Quartet are a Roman musical group composed of Andrea Rinaldi (electric guitar) and a beluga quartet (pedal effects and voices). The project was born in 2017 and the main focus consists in the live soundtracking of nature documentaries. The sound is entirely processed live without the use of pre-recorded elements and accompanies the documentary, defining its emotional tone. Their set is made up of an electric guitar and 25 pedal effects (octavers, harmonizers, guitar synths, fuzz, overdrive, valves, delays, loopers) a small orchestra in which the crackle of the fuzz joins the underwater song of the beluga whales.
Malasomma is an art director, musician and sound designer. He trained as a drummer, but soon his expression expanded to the world of multimedia research, allowing him to carry out numerous projects both solo and in collaboration with other artists. He soon arrived on important national and European stages, where he brought back to the public the research and fascination for unconventional forms of language. His sound art works and performances have been presented in prestigious museums, festivals and cultural centers including the Milan Film Festival (at Base), Asilo Filangeri Napoli, Mas Modica, Parco Archeologico Egnazia, Locus Festival, Time Zones. He has played in Italy, France, England, Germany, Albania, Greece, Czech Republic, Belgium, Portugal. Malasomma dedicates particular attention to the mix between contemporary art and locations of cultural interest, such as museums, archaeological excavations and disused buildings, creating multimedia performances with a strong audio and visual impact over the years. He also works for theatre, dance and cinema, organizes festivals and exhibitions related to new languages, and actively participates in various interdisciplinary projects.

Malclango
live set
1 drums, 2 basses, 3 gorilla masks. Furious melodies and wild polyrhythms,
MalClango makes fun of music by stripping math rock down to its underwear. They played with bands like: Shellac, Lightning Bolt, Helmet, Retox. Their debut, “Malclango”, is a split 12” in collaboration with the Los Angeles Band HERE, released in 2017 by Subsound Records.
The latest album “Sparagazzarre” (Subsound Records, 2023) presents an even more bizarre and contaminated sound.
It can be universally recognized as the best album written by MalClango in 2023.

Branches
Pomegranate ::: 98 is an artistic collective formed by Rami ElMogy, Nicola Carpeggiani, Nico Esposito and Domenico Villani. Taking inspiration from generative art, chaos theory and algorithmic processes the group mixes different experimental analogue and digital techniques for the production of audiovisual works.
“I Miss you Homeostasis” is an audiovisual performance that explores the fragile balance between the human mind and the outside world through experimental music and visual arts. Based on brain scans of individuals suffering from depression, it represents the detachment of human beings from their inner self and instincts.
Experimental Music
The soundtrack, composed by musician Canyf, uses advanced synthesis and sound manipulation techniques to reflect chaos and the search for a new inner balance.
Visual Art
The brain scans are digitized and disintegrated using depth mapping techniques, interacting with visuals representing external reality, such as abandoned buildings, eco-monsters, hamburgers and military influencers, symbols of alienation and consumerism.

Ohm Sweet Ohm create music with influences from trip hop, dubstep, electro, ambient and various expressions of contemporary music: they are the dreamlike voice and psychedelic grooves of the didgeridoo, an ancient instrument of Australian origin, which blend with electronic music, creating an atmosphere which combines the music of tribal instruments with urban sounds.

A boy and a girl meet, vomiting vodka and apple.
A shared passion for the groups Big Beat and Electroclash, as well as for some Eurodance hits of the 90s. A crazy desire to form a band addicted to binary rhythms and synthetic sounds bludgeoned on vintage keyboards.
Music inherited from the coitus of Dave Gahan and Beth Dito… unlikely!

Asna
live set
Asna is many different people at the same time. She continually fuses different styles from various eras into a fresh and exciting genre, and she does so as a solo DJ and producer, in her collaborations with AnyoneID and in the duo’s joint project, Kass Kass Rizer, an artist from the Ivory Coast living in France. But his work certainly doesn’t end here. A graphic designer by profession, he enriches and expands his musical practice with high-impact visual ideas.

Mr.3p TruckStop76th
dj set
Truckstop76th is an independent label founded in 2002 in Rome, and more precisely in Ostia, a suburban neighborhood overlooking the sea.
This label was born from the desire of the duo Seventysix (i.e. Mr.3p and NRN) to create their own platform and be able to spread their music and that of their crew. The roots of the label lie in the illegal Roman rave scene, where many of them were direct activists and participants. This is where their attitude and choice to self-produce their music comes from.
Their inspiration is trucks, the road, cities and travel. The main ingredients of their style are a hard and sustained 808 and a mean and incisive bass line, all composed and filtered with the latest technological innovations.

Tosunian e Real Hysteria with the show “Trattoria degli Animali”
www.instagram.com/real_isteria/
TOSUNIAN was born as a dismantling of the canonical structure of the radio, and, through an operation of continuous superimpositions and reductions, the entire body of sound (including the speaker’s voice) is mangled and transposed into what we define as being, more than a radio, a sensation of Radio. The center is not music, but musicality. The process is pursued at a multidisciplinary level, making the project very flexible in form. Live performances can be totally focused on listening, or “played” on the visual component of the Radio (the radio has no image) through installations, performative events, screenings of “L’Epigone” (Radio Film always in progress – latest screening dated last May 13th at Cinema Mexico in Milan).
REAL HYSTERIA is a young company that focuses its research on improvisation and interactive experimentation with the public. It is an exploratory path that constitutes the encounter between bodies and play. The main purpose of the act is to arrive at the game without deciding the moves, to make the body go in unknown directions. A reduction in possession and branded identities; in favor of sharing and freedom of expression. The non-place is suspended in luminescent and ethereal colours.

Rotadefero
live set
Rotadefero is the new project by Cristiano D’Innocenti and Tommaso Garavini, two fifths of the historic and seminal Roman hardcore band Concrete. Far away musically from the hc-apocalyptic lands of the formation, yet not philosophically, Rotadefero have an intense live-performative activity under their belt and a 7″ to be released in January 2017 for Zen Hex in which they show their “material” conception of music, between industrial echoes, acid soundscapes, references to the Test Dept. and a whole school of thought.

Trrmà
live set
Trrmà is a duo composed of Giovanni Todisco and Giuseppe Candiano.
Since 2016, they have been exploring, experimenting and synthesizing sound paths.
In “Mixtape vol. II”, the second work with Hyperjazz, in collaboration with Charlemagne Palestine and Jamalaadeen Tacuma (Ornette Coleman’s bass player), they offer a new explosive fusion between the sounds of avant-garde electronics and hip hop. They have received mentions in international magazines such as The Wire, The Quietus, Worldwide FM, Bandcamp Daily. Influenced by the most refined beat making, they propose a very particular live band perspective: a personal sonic sauce spread on a slice of freedom.

LALA
Film
Directed by Ludovica Fales
Zaga is a Roma girl, born and raised in a camp in Rome. We met her at the age of 17, when she lived with her son in an apartment in the Tor Bella Monaca neighborhood and the director began filming her attempt to obtain a residence permit. After more than a year of trying, Zaga realized that he was not entitled to obtain the documents and decided to leave without leaving a trace of himself. In search of answers to her disappearance, the director wrote the screenplay for a fiction film asking Samanta, a young non-professional Roma actress, to play the role of LALA, Zaga’s alter ego. Together with Samantha there are other young people, mostly Roma and Sinti, who for two years found themselves in a theatrical improvisation workshop during which they deconstructed the script, shaping the scenes on their experiences and subjective truths. Through this mechanism, the separation between actor and character has become progressively more subtle, almost impalpable, to the point of demolishing the “fourth wall” and inviting the spectator to feel an active part of the reflective and creative process outlined before his eyes. In 2021 Zaga reappeared, crossing the world of the film which, in the meantime and starting from her, had been created.

Workshops every day in the cells
collaborative drawing workshops, in which the aim is to fill sheets of drawings (50x70cm), without leaving white spaces on the paper. Only one rule: do not go beyond the lines of the other drawers until you fill the sheet. These workshops will be held by the members of the collective, for 4 hours a day, with the aim of allowing visitors to express themselves freely every afternoon from 2pm to 6pm. We will bring large format sheets and boxes of colored markers to organize the workshop. Within our collective sketchbooks, some graphic processes were born from the meeting of our respective personalities. They have established themselves to become our new collective language. Among these processes, the most singular are the saturation of the graphic space, the repetition of the gesture, the common development of an invasive organic motif. From these principles a natural alchemy is born and very easily shared with other designers. These drawings have become places of invitation and exchange. These shared drawing protocols could be the way to produce new images with the visitors encountered during the festival. A space will be set up in the cell to display the drawings made during the workshops.

Shedding
performance
A series of performances that merge buto-dance with latex prosthetics, exploring the queer spirit, living and experimenting with other bodies, all surrounded by a post-human aesthetic and conceptual approach.
The performance thematizes the bodily capabilities of different creatures, such as moulting, the production and secretion of liquids, and disruptive physical compulsions such as autophagy. He uses prosthetics to accentuate, transpose and manipulate these functions, in order to assemble a human imaginary. The prostheses, sometimes enriched by DY instruments, are accompanied by traces of sounds of objects interacting with the skin, all largely distorted.

On a recent car trip we stopped in a forest near a river. While reflecting on the animals that potentially frequent the river we realized that many of these live at night. Squirrels, wild boars, fawns, foxes, hares, and many other animals are nocturnal or active in the very first or last hours of the day. It seems that the fauna of the woods, to avoid encountering humans in their daytime activities, have adapted and evolved to live during the night. What strategies will they adopt to avoid running into humans?
The individual sampled voices will become a concert; the tables, videos or images of each animal will become a collective, unitary story of each species in its diversity, uniqueness and shared chaos.

PER FORTEPRESSA:
Elevator 24
World
For the 2024 edition CRACK! ANIMAL, Fortepressa calls for a collection of posters that explode, write articles and discuss this year’s theme. An invitation that involves a first group of 24 artists3 present at the festival – starting a visual dialogue, a conversation without words.
ANIMAL is not a fantastic bestiary, but a category that disjoins, dissects and humiliates. It is the term necessary to establish a value – humanity – by contrast with a disvalue – bestiality. An outside, so that an inside can exist.
An elevator to hell that does not only travel – nor one-way – between living species, but continues its project of dichotomous segregation even within the species themselves. Animal-humans and humanized animals. ANIMAL, however, is also the condition that most profoundly unites us, as living beings, to everything that exists. The basis of mutual care, of the right to share, to empathy even to mourning when one or all of these conditions of existence are wounded, massacred or denied.
Bambi Kramer WITH HIS LATEST COMIC “EDENANDEDNA/vol1 BEYOND THE GARDEN” (FORTEPRESSA)
Italy – World
She uses her art to send us snapshots from the parallel universe that she actually inhabits: a desolate post-Bosch landscape that mutant life forms begin to repopulate as if after a storm” (Néstor Martìnez Célis). Along this path her work moves from representations static, of the sort of portraits or still lifes, to the procedural and dynamic form of the scroll: a form of automatic writing in which the drawings simply flow without limits or boundaries, like a stream of consciousness of juxtaposed visions, along uninterrupted meters of paper I original scrolls generally do not survive, since Bambi Kramer destroys them by cutting them into slices that can be sold in the gallery by the centimeter, or recomposed by the artist herself. The waste from this process can in turn find new form in the cut itself, or in the It is the act of recombining different parts together. It is the metaphor of an intimate condition and of a broader and more generalized state of crisis, where chimerical mutants, lovable losers on the margins of a decadent society, are dragged into an unstoppable, self-reproducing process of criticism and regeneration.Plastered 8 Beijing was founded in 2006 as an iconic t-shirt brand. She had great successes and even found herself in trouble at times. Their art has gone from T-shirts to galleries and installations, but also illustration and pop art, all created by a large group of Chinese artists.
Sin Fronteras ni Naciones
We gather under the name Colectivo sin fronteras ni naciones (Collective without borders or nations) as a free expression against the imposition of this separatist idea that defines us based on our origin and places of origin. Brought together by ideas related to anarchy, the construction of spaces of solidarity and above all in the name of DIY! hazlo you misma! to create different spaces in which struggle, resistance and autonomy converge. We are the oppressed and proud disobedient from the different territorialities of the old mother earth. We recognize ourselves in the resistance, in the constant struggles we face in this system of domination, exploitation and death, where the voices and fists that are raised as a sign of rebellion and disobedience are almost always persecuted, silenced, locked up, killed. We are the nobodies, who pass without permission or forgiveness, we abhor and blur their imaginary lines, called borders. Walking, weaving, creating, conspiring, without borders or nations. Sin Fronteras Ni Naciones has created various actions, simultaneous events, meetings, festivals in various territories such as Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Spain, the United States and Peru with companies with anarchist or libertarian ideas from these territories, articulating themselves starting from particular themes for every encounter, such as migration, anti-prison, the fight for land, ecocide, and borders. The Sin fronteras Ni Naciones festival is a space for meeting and articulation, with graphic exhibitions, workshops, conferences, screenings, live music. The latest version of the Festival Sin Fronteras Ni Naciones #4, whose central theme was Ecocide, the fight for fauna and the earth, saw the creation, together with other graphic workshops, of an exhibition of graphic works at 1 and 2 colors in silk-screen printing. It is an exhibition that presents various illustrations of animals in danger of extinction, ecosystems in resistance against a reality that resorts to wild extractivism to guarantee the digitalisation of society to techno-industry, which promises progress in exchange for social control, expropriation of land and consumption of water in the name of a sustainable and alternative ecology. Which destroys entire valleys to build great works but then covers them with solar panels, passing itself off as a solution to the irremediable ecosystem changes that it has created and which have repercussions on the entire globe. A colonial system that generates wars to grab raw materials at the lowest price and then criminalizes and exploits the people who escape it.
Pirotecnia Negra
Colombia
We are Pirotecnia, a collective that has been practicing its actions in the city of Bogota for more than seven years and is made up of people who make political reflections from a libertarian position, autonomously and independently of any organization or institution. Our actions take place in public spaces such as the street and the internet and are based on a communication of graphic and visual agitation, with the intention of bringing out those messages that are deactivated by the hegemony of the distorting mass media and the mainstream, since these messages that come from below are not part of the interests of capital and pseudo democracy (plutocracy).
From a technical point of view we can say that we use different tools in a transmedia way with the intention that the reflections are told from different points of view, including urban intervention, such as fanzines, muralism, graffiti, posters, stickers and screen printing, among other urban practices.
Lilas Mala
France
When he submitted his proposal for the poster of CRACK! Animale we immediately thought was the perfect interpretation of this edition. A regular visitor to the pages of La Tranchée Racine, she published her first noir monograph, Brands, in which bad dreams and ancestral fears spill over into anthropomorphic creatures that emerge from dark woods.
The S Grand Atelier
Belgium
a “S” Grand Atelier is an art workshop located in Vielsalm, in the heart of the Ardennes, offering a range of creative activities (visual and performing arts) for raw artists. These artists are not sick – just mentally deficient – but they practice an art daily, accomplished and often for many years. They work every day in workshops supervised by art professionals in every field. In Belgium and abroad. The “S” is also unique because it runs a residency program for contemporary artists from all walks of life. Residencies during which raw artists and contemporary artists meet to create common works. For many years now, La “S” Grand Atelier has been exploring a new relationship with art brut and with the current practices of contemporary artists.
HAIRSPRAY x FANATIC FEMALE FRUSTRATION

Elías Taño
Politicizing drawing is an exercise in honesty and commitment. Think of the page as a scream. Like a wall capable of screaming anger, hope. Drawing becomes a field of political research. A search for a language that, on the one hand, recovers the best tradition of contingent graphics; on the other, you try to revitalize the imprint and perception of the political fact by society. That is, moving away from condescending graphics. And creating questions that question power relations
C.RUDE
Distraught stars form a collective without knowing it during a global catastrophe to cry together and make unpretentious comics. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, always check twice to make sure you’ve flushed the water.
Mo Lee
Chinese
An eclectic artist, she has fueled her experience by traveling and studying in different parts of the world. With her work she expresses the political, feminist point of view on nature, using different facets that are sometimes subtle and implicit, but very often destabilizing, using different techniques and art forms.
Tony Cheung
Chinese
Tony Cheung, born in ’87, is an illustrator and designer from Guangzhou, a city in southern China more commonly known as Canton. In 2011 he began his artistic journey with the project “Sensitive Words”. The idea was born in 2010 and investigates the topic of Chinese censorship, using those key words that allow the Beijing government’s network filtering mechanism to more quickly identify discussions unwelcome to the regime, politically sensitive issues, which are largely filtered and censored. Mao, Stalin, Marx are transformed, made new and bizarre and at the same time iconic, using a style that mixes the American pop culture of the 50s and 60s, that of manga and dictatorial culture to the point of touching on classical Japanese art. The colors are strong as are the images which embody eroticism and sensuality together with a strong satirical streak.
Betonite
Fanzines, handmade books, prints (silkscreen, engraving),
Bétonite is an artist collective co-founded by Amélie Royer, Hippolyte Tessier, Jean Baptiste Petit, Thomas Jacoulet and Pablo Marion, based in Strasbourg, France. Our main practice revolves around drawing and painting, often intended for book support. We also approach the work of scenography, sculpture, sound and video. We have gathered around underground worlds, through their amateur discovery (speleology/urbex), be they old quarries, abandoned military devices or natural cavities. Bétonite develops a practice that involves printing and molding techniques and the book object. The creation of drawing protocols through collective work is at the heart of their questions.
They have training, practice and knowledge of artisanal printing techniques (intaglio engraving, linocut, screen printing)
Sottobosco
Live painting with fluorescent paint. An independent company based in Bologna, it produces small autobiographical and non-autobiographical comic books with an eclectic and sometimes aggressive style.

La Gilda Dvanderh
David Vander
A new artistic space was born in Valencia: La Gilda. Even if its name might make you think of a place for snacks, it is a new creative nucleus dedicated to screen printing, in all its facets. It is run by Martin Lopez and David Vander, two people passionate about this technique and all that it entails, who intend to “create a neighborhood” with this new proposal. The idea was born from “a legacy of spaces”: Vander was part of the political theater company A Tiro Hecho, which left the premises abandoned when it left Valencia. Thanks to trust and closeness, it was Vander who took over the place and, after introducing it to his friend Martín, they created La Gilda. Almost at the same time they had a stroke of luck and their friend Carles God decided to give them Hildegard, a huge silk-screen printing machine that would mark the future of what was the rehearsal room of A Tiro Hecho, of which only a sign remains of wood to remember what the place was some time ago.
CHAPACAN
Name derived from Ligurian (ciapa can), literally “dog catcher”. In Marseille it is used to define someone poorly dressed, strange, marginalized. We met during the last edition of CRACK! ( 2023 ), where we had separate booths. Thanks to the experience at the Forte, we became super friends and stayed in touch all year. For this edition, we decided to organize a joint project, despite living in different countries (France, Italy, Belgium). Knowing Felix, William and Nico from Jean Guichon, we were impressed by their way of experiencing CRACK! and to join artists from various countries, thanks to the festival. Chapacan, for us, is more than just the definition of outcast. He is both the dog catcher and the stray dog. It’s the fact of being put out of the group, stigmatized and all that that implies. The animal is human, the human is animal. Free yourself from oppression, reclaim spaces of domination. Rewrite the rules. “Ni oubli ni pardon”. Angry dogs have organized themselves, they bring the clothes of their elderly executioners, to mock them.
Jean Guichon Editor
Belgium
They come back again, regular guests and lifelong friends Jean Guichon editor. Sons of the sun, disciples of Baäl, the sixteen apostles spread the good word with the fervor of a venereal disease. Known for corrupting all drinking water with KKNRVX, they then continued to produce the monthly Le Loyer with the regularity of a drunken clock and the flair of a sleeping cat. Since then they have continued to play Indians in space-time chasing a crazy comet.

Editions Dentata
France
Margotmourriersanyas
Durga.maya
Following the symbolism of Oswald de Andrade’s Anthropophagous Manifesto, Éditions Dentata forge and develop their object-books as well as the poetic culture that they defend by publishing fanzines and mixing different languages, stories, media and techniques. For this special edition of Crack!, in addition to the no borders aspect of Dentata’s work and demands, there will be a transfeminist and experimental dimension for the public who will enter the cell. It is the discovery of a new vampiric publication, which mixes the traces left by the greedy teeth, by the greedy hearts of love when it hits the body and attacks it with passion. What a person’s taste makes us transform and incorporate for profound and intimate changes within us, forever lasting and desirable inversions. The body changes everything. And as our love for each other, the author and illustrator of our duo, increasingly consumes within us the bastions of violence that we have been forced to eat and assimilate, as we have learned to rediscover a taste for the flesh of our companion species, to defend ourselves in a better and improved way. And above all to relearn how to love and love ourselves. These publications, in various formats, will be the subject of an installation and activation in the mode of a reading performance, to make the languages resonate in the humidity of the cells, of the languages and of the humidity that come from the depths and the darkness of the night, like a forgotten magic.
Holly Heuser
She has produced for Eris Edizioni the book Cold Prison, which will be featured at Crack! On the Eris stand. “But the real novelty from Eris at SalTo is the volume by Holly Heuser, the artist “graphomaniac and devotee of psychogeography,” who after the volume Milano emotiva (Agenzia x, 2022) returns to bookstores with Cold Prison, a story that makes use of the most diverse techniques (pencil, India ink, collage, ballpoint pen, markers) (. …) It is the inner monologue of a woman who has accepted the job, as per the letter of assignment from the Italian Space Agency reproduced, of director of a penal colony on an alien planet. Lysergic-tasting handmade backgrounds, pastiches of techniques, and absolute freedom both textual and iconic characterize the visual language of the author, who hand-drew the 1,000 copies of the print run of this proudly underground book.” – Virginia Tonfoni, The Manifesto.
Eris Edizioni
“We adopt the Creative Commons License, which gives back to the work and the ideas it contains their due freedom and dignity, without denying the rights of the author and the user. And we assure that even the economic aspect, by eliminating too many intermediaries, is much more akin to the needs of authors and users. We want to give substance to and distribute works, not based on their potential economic success, without grounding our choices on the importance of an author but only on the goodness of their work, taking particular care to those who are newcomers and who have the right to be chosen for what they do and not for what their profit in the bookstore.”
Claudio Marinaccio
Claudio Marinaccio will be at CRACK! with his new book released by D Editore.
A ruthless, self-effacing, sometimes cruel work. In the stories of Aimone l’Airone, cynicism and bitterness are intertwined with the present in Marinaccio’s graphic writing. A divergent perspective that makes the pains and themes treated with a minimal and biting sign real and hard. In this paradoxical contrast between abstraction and reality develops a grotesque irony that breaks the heart in half as only the greatest art can do.
From the introduction text by Valerio Bindi, series editor: “I am fascinated by the crooked, the tragic, the grotesque, the obnoxious, the indigestible. Those who create problems. Because, without these creators, we don’t exist at all. So I publish Aimone L’Airone as an act of gratitude for those who decide to go their own way, without asking permission”
