CRACK! CARNE 2025

Ogni autor3, e ogni lettor3, di fumetto ha sperimentato la pratica di incarnarsi nei suoi disegni e nelle sue storie. Ogni personaggio che viene disegnato porta con sé questa capacità che si trasmette tra chi scrive e disegna e chi legge. Siamo corpi e ci muoviamo sulla carta nel mondo. Sappiamo, perché lo abbiamo imparato nei modi più diversi, a volte dolorosi, che il corpo ha una dimensione pubblica e un’assegnazione nei dispositivi di gerarchia sociale.

Corpi che contano e corpi che non contano. Corpi-persona e corpi-cose. Corpi cui si riconoscono il potere, il diritto di produrre e far valere le proprie rappresentazioni, e corpi che sono solo CARNE. Carni-cose. Su questa assegnazione riflette quest’anno il festival, nello spazio vasto, o forse brevissimo, che separa carnalità da carneficina. C’è una relazione costante fra corpo-carne-morte. In un corpo morto la CARNE, da giunto materiale che tiene assieme le infinite connessioni del corpo, è destinata a un processo di consunzione e putrefazione che le scioglie e le separa. Ma questo avviene anche ad un corpo vivo di un essere non ammesso all’umano: la CARNE è una cosa, destinata ad un trattamento funzionale. Ad essere spartita e distrutta. La Palestina è un paradigma doloroso di questo.

CARNE segue le due edizioni precedenti nelle relazioni tra cibo e corpo, gusto e disgusto: vogliamo riflettere sulla carne e sui corpi, sui diritti che incarnarsi può dare o togliere. Se L’umano è un’attribuzione di potere, razzista, suprematista e patriarcale, noi proponiamo di restare CARNE, carne viva e con la disponibilità di scegliere specie e genere. Per recidere la connessione tra non-umanità e irrilevanza dobbiamo decostruire le relazioni di potere che si instaurano, anche nel mondo delle immagini: le nostre visioni mostrano le possibilità della CARNE deviante, mutante. Rivendichiamo la nostra essenza subumana.

Questa edizione del festival rappresenta anche un momento particolare nel nostro percorso. Dopo una prima edizione provvisoria e solo romana nel 2003 nasce l’idea di rendere questo incontro tra autoproduzioni un appuntamento aperto orizzontale e annuale. Nel 2005 prende il nome di Crack! fumetti dirompenti e da lì in poi centinaia di presenze vitali hanno riempito i labirintici sotterranei della nostra Madre Fortezza il CSOA Forteprenestino. Per un festival autoprodotto vent’anni di vita sono un tempo impensabile: abbiamo accolto riflessioni, immagini e mutazioni così molteplici e irripetibili da non riuscire ancora a pensare di raccoglierne una storia. Difficile anche solo tenere gli occhi aperti tutto questo tempo. Per questo ci sembra importante oggi più che mai portare un ringraziamento a questa comunità del segno radicale che ha dato, e continua a dare, chiavi immaginarie molteplici per una liberazione del vedere e del vivere. CARNE e esistenze insostituibili: grazie.

CRACK! fumetti dirompenti di Roma è un festival autogestito e auto-organizzato in rete dedicato al fumetto e all’arte disegnata e stampata. Siamo un festival per le persone che vogliono condividere il loro lavoro, aperto a tutte le individualità e le molteplicità delle produzioni underground. CRACK!, è ospitato e prodotto dal FORTEPRENESTINO C.S.O.A. di Roma: antica fortezza occupata da trentanove anni per restituirla alla città, per un uso sociale, politico e culturale dei beni comuni. È uno spazio che pratica Autogestione, Solidarietà e Consenso.

TI VIENE CHIESTA UNA SOTTOSCRIZIONE LIBERALE DI CROWDFUNDING. NON È UNA QUOTA DI ISCRIZIONE E NON GARANTISCE DI ESPORRE, MA PERMETTE DI ENTRARE NEI QUATTRO GIORNI. Cerca nella descrizione della proposta di farci capire bene con che spirito vieni, manda foto del tuo banchetto, porta cose nuove dirompenti e che spieghino a che punto è il tuo lavoro oggi.

Se vuoi proporre un set musicale (live o DJ) scrivici alla mail che trovi in fondo. Se vuoi pensare a una presentazione pubblica di un progetto editoriale proponila: in base alle proposte ricevute creeremo uno spazio dedicato a fare dei brevi incontri tra il venerdì e la domenica.

TAVOLI: ne metteremo a disposizione alcuni per chi espone nei sotterranei ma non possiamo coprire tutte le esigenze, provvedi tu per il tuo banchetto (che occupi mt 1,10 di lunghezza per 0,80 di larghezza circa). A CRACK! È POSSIBILE CAMPEGGIARE, una volta che sarai nella lista delle iscrizioni. Porta con te sacco a pelo, materassino e tenda. In alternativa alla tenda sarai ospitato in stanze comuni. Troverai una cucina condivisa e alcune basiche provviste di cibo. Si cucina solo cibo vegetariano. Nei frigo comuni vanno solo gli alimenti messi a disposizione per tutt3, e non saranno ammessi animali morti commestibili di nessun tipo. Si possono parcheggiare dei camper ma lo spazio è limitato, e le dimensioni devono essere compatibili e concordate con l’organizzazione.

CRACK! non è un festival come gli altri, è un momento unico di condivisione basato su principi essenziali. Partecipare è condividerli, prendendone parte in prima persona. Ci aspettiamo responsabilità e aiuto nella gestione dello spazio che ti viene assegnato, sia per dormire che per mangiare che per esporre. La Fortezza è contro lo spaccio e contro ogni tipo di mercificazione, questo è uno spazio liberato e non un mercato. Non voltarti dall’altra parte nel caso di comportamenti violenti, sessisti, homo/lesbo/trans/fobici, razzisti, fascisti e/o non rispettosi del luogo, di chi lo attraversa e delle libertà che difende. In questo caso attivati! Parla con le tue amicizie e con chi hai intorno, cerca aiuto tra le persone del Forte. Sì significa Sì e tutto il resto è No. La festa e lo spazio sono per tutt3. CRACK! MEAT 2025

Every author, and every reader, of comics has experienced the practice of embodying themselves in the drawings and stories. Every character that is drawn carries this ability, which is transmitted between the writer, the drawer, and the reader. We are bodies and we move both in the world and on paper. We know this because we have learned in the most diverse, sometimes painful, ways, that the body has a public dimension and an assignment in the devices of social hierarchy.

Bodies that matter and bodies that do not. Bodies-persons and bodies-things. Bodies that are recognised as having power, that have the right to produce and enforce their own representations, and bodies that are just…MEAT. Flesh. The festival reflects on this assignment this year, in the vast, or perhaps very brief, space that separates carnality from carnage. There is a constant relationship between body-flesh-death. In a dead body, MEAT, from matter holding together the body’s infinite connections, is destined to a process of consumption and putrefaction that disentangles those same connections. But this happens also to the living body of a being not admitted to the ‘human’: MEAT is a thing, destined for functional treatment. To be partitioned and destroyed. Palestine is a painful paradigm of this.

MEAT follows the two previous editions in exploring the relations between food and body, taste and dis(taste): we want to reflect on flesh and bodies, on the rights that embodying can give or take away. If the category of the human is an attribution of power, often racist, supremacist and patriarchal, we propose to stay MEAT, living flesh with the availability to choose species and gender. To sever the connection between non-humanity and irrelevance we must deconstruct the power relations that are established, even in the world of images: our visions show the possibilities of deviant, mutant Flesh. We claim our subhuman essence.

This edition of the festival also represents a special moment in our journey. After a first provisional and only Roman edition in 2003, the idea was born to make this meeting between autonomous-productions a horizontal and annual open event. In 2005 it took the name Crack! fumetti dirompenti, and from that year onwards hundreds of vital presences filled the labyrinthine underground of our Mother Fortress CSOA Forteprenestino. For a autonomously produced festival, twenty years of life is an unthinkable amount of time: we have welcomed such manifold and unrepeatable reflections, images, and mutations that we still cannot think of collecting a single history. Difficult even to keep our eyes open for all this time. This is why we feel it is more important today than ever to thank this community of the radical expression, that has given, and continues to give, multiple imaginary keys to a liberation of seeing and living, where irreplaceable existences thrive and me(a)t: to all of you, thank you.

CRACK! fumetti dirompenti in Rome, as you know, is a self-managed and self-organized networked festival dedicated to comics and drawn and printed art. We are a festival for people that want to share their work, open to all individualities and multiplicities of underground productions. CRACK! is hosted and produced by Rome’s C.S.O.A. FORTEPRENESTINO: a squatted ancient fortress that in the last thirty-nine years has been returned to the city for a social, political and cultural use of the commons. It is a space that practices Autonomous Management, Solidarity and Consensus.

YOU ARE ASKED FOR A LIBERAL CROWDFUNDING SUBSCRIPTION. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REGISTRATION FEE AND DOES NOT GUARANTEE EXHIBITING YOUR WORK, BUT ALLOWS YOU TO ENTER CRACK! FOR ALL FOUR DAYS.

It will not be possible to make this preliminary donation once at the festival. The donation should be made to our association at the time of sending the proposal (we suggest an individual fee of fifteen euros, which will be donated to ‘La Bagarre’ through the modalities found HERE: https://fortepressa.net/crack2025/donate/). For each donation/proposal we will provide an entry wristband for the festival: as an exhibitor, if we have accepted your participation, or as a visitor, if we have declined it. With this donation we will be able to allocate a partial travel contribution for those from abroad. ENROLLMENTS ARE INDIVIDUAL. If you are part of a stable collective please indicate that and we will group the related entries together. You will likewise be able to indicate if you would like to share your bench with other artists. THE CALL CLOSES ON THE TWENTIETH OF MAY 2025 AT 11 P.M. (GMT+1). All autonomous published comics, small press and zine projects are preferred, (yes to stickers and patches, and we can evaluate projects of dolls/figures/puppets, as well as games). Yes to T-shirts and screen prints on fabric if they respond to a well-configured art project characterized in the logic of autonomous publishing. We welcome small publishers who recognize themselves in creative commons or no copyright. As always NO COPYRIGHT, NO SEXISM, NO FASCISM, NO RACISM. No craft or clothing projects, photography, painting, fan.art, insta.art/influencer/tiktoker/wannabist. In your proposal description try to give us a clear understanding of the spirit in which you are coming, SEND A PICTURE OF YOUR STAND, bring the state of the art of your work.

If you want to propose a music set (live or DJ) please drop an email to the address at the end of the page. If you want to think about a public presentation of a publishing project propose it: based on the proposals received we will create a dedicated space to make short meetings between friday and sunday.

TABLES: we will provide some tables in the basement but there are never enough for all artists, so please get organized and bring your table with you when possible (dimensions should be approximately 1.10m long by 0.80m wide). Point out essential needs in the notes of your application.

The underground area of the 50 cells of CRACK! will be allocated only on the basis of exhibit designs. If you want to be in the cells, propose an idea in your application drive and describe it (with text and pictures). AT CRACK! THERE IS A CAMPGROUND ONCE YOU ARE ON THE REGISTRATION LIST. Bring your sleeping bag and sleeping pad, and your own tent. As an alternative to the tent you will be housed in communal rooms. You will find a shared kitchen and some basic food supplies. In the communal kitchen you are required to cook vegetarian. If you put things in the shared coolers these become common property and no edible dead animals of any kind will be allowed. Campers can be parked inside, but space is limited. the dimensions must be compatible and agreed upon with the organization.

CRACK! is not a festival like any other, it is a unique moment of sharing based on essential principles. To participate means to share these principles, and to actively take part in them. We expect from you responsibility and help in managing the space you are assigned, both to sleep and to eat. And to exhibit. The Fortress is firmly against drug dealing and against any kind of commodification, this is a liberated space and not a market. Do not look the other way if you witness violent, sexist, homo/lesbo/trans/phobic, racist, fascist, and/or disrespectful behaviors towards the place, those who live it, and the freedom it defends. In this case, be proactive! Talk to your friends and those around you, seek help among the people of the Fortress. Yes means Yes and everything else is No. The party and the space are for all. We respect the pronouns with which people identify. All bodies are valid. We care for all the artists. If we exist, we exist together.
