HAPPINESS – CRACK! FESTIVAL 2026

Primo emoticon, primo logo a diffusione globale, primo passo verso lo sfruttamento capitalistico di una valenza emotiva collettiva, sporco di sangue in Watchmen, deformato nell’Uomo Che Ride, il proto-Joker espressionista, oppure solo due punti e una parentesi. Se ci fosse una valuta per la felicità porterebbe uno smile stampato di sicuro. Questa diffusione è legata al valore che rappresenta la Happiness, misurabile orizzonte del capitale, registrato ogni anno dal World Happiness Report. Non una classifica di benessere ma un dispositivo di controllo e indirizzo politico.

La Felicità è un antidepressivo a diffusione globale, un anestetico nelle mani dell’Impero, una trappola che produce schiavitù e conforma desideri e speranze. Senza Happiness l’intero apparato, dove sopportare l’insopportabile è il compito quotidiano di ogni singolo, vacillerebbe. Il capitale premia le menzogne e le diffonde: sono modelli di vita, scatole dell’informazione, forme dello spettacolo. Quando cediamo le nostre emozioni ci rendiamo disponibili a falsificare anche quelle: quando le conformiamo il dispositivo di controllo è scattato. Nel dominio del capitalismo delle emozioni la Felicità non è un nostro valore e non intendiamo condividere i modelli che ne producono il rating. Non ci appartiene nessuna via di fuga felice.

Rivendichiamo un lessico delle emozioni che ne includa la sua ampia gamma. Preferiamo la Gioia, una barricata in fiamme contro l’esercito devastante della Felicità. Preferiamo la Malinconia della lotta, che in questo momento vediamo difficile. Preferiamo l’Empatia con gli esseri viventi, con le vite schiacciate e il mondo calpestato. Non chiediamo di misurare la nostra felicità, o di accedere allo status che ci darebbe accettarla e rifiutiamo il potere di esercitarla. In questa edizione di Crack! festival progettiamo nel nostro cono d’ombra un’evasione, restiamo lontano dal faro di controllo della Happiness, e dalle sue forme della rappresentazione. Noi ci teniamo stretti gli spazi che nel tempo abbiamo liberato da questi modelli e che accolgono la nostra differenza, le nostre comunità. Rivendichiamo la deviazione dal tracciato della Happiness anche quando genera infelicità e non cesseremo di reclamare questi luoghi.

Siamo un festival per le persone che vogliono condividere il loro lavoro, aperto a tutte le individualità e le molteplicità delle produzioni underground. CRACK!, è ospitato e prodotto dal FORTEPRENESTINO C.S.O.A. di Roma: antica fortezza occupata da trentanove anni per restituirla alla città, per un uso sociale, politico e culturale dei beni comuni. È uno spazio che pratica Autogestione, Solidarietà e Consenso.

TI VIENE CHIESTA UNA SOTTOSCRIZIONE LIBERALE DI CROWDFUNDING. NON È UNA QUOTA DI ISCRIZIONE E NON GARANTISCE DI ESPORRE, MA PERMETTE DI ENTRARE NEI QUATTRO GIORNI. Controlla di ricevere email di conferma dell’invio, proveremo a darti una risposta circa ad un mese dall’iscrizione. Sono preferiti tutti i progetti di fumetto autoprodotto, small press e zine, e stampe (si stickers e patches, e possiamo valutare progetti di dolls figures puppets e games). Sì magliette e serigrafie su tessuto se rispondono ad un progetto artistico ben configurato e caratterizzato nelle logiche dell’autoproduzione. Sì piccoli editori che si riconoscono nel creative commons o nel no copyright. No progetti di vario artigianato o vestiario no fotografia no pittura no fan.art no insta.art/influencer/tiktoker/wannabist e sempre NO COPYRIGHT NO SESSISMO NO FASCISMO NO RAZZISMO. Cerca nella descrizione della proposta di farci capire bene con che spirito vieni, manda foto del tuo banchetto, porta cose nuove dirompenti e che spieghino a che punto è il tuo lavoro oggi. Se vuoi proporre un set musicale (live o DJ) scrivici alla mail che trovi in fondo. Se vuoi pensare a una presentazione pubblica di un progetto editoriale proponila: in base alle proposte ricevute creeremo uno spazio dedicato a fare dei brevi incontri tra il venerdì e la domenica.

TAVOLI: ne metteremo a disposizione alcuni per chi espone nei sotterranei ma non possiamo coprire tutte le esigenze, provvedi tu per il tuo banchetto (che occupi mt 1,10 di lunghezza per 0,80 di larghezza circa). Segnala nelle note le tue necessità essenziali. L’AREA SOTTERRANEA delle 50 celle di CRACK! sarà assegnata solo sulla base di progetti di allestimento. A CRACK! È POSSIBILE CAMPEGGIARE, una volta che sarai nella lista delle iscrizioni. Porta con te sacco a pelo, materassino e tenda. In alternativa alla tenda sarai ospitato in stanze comuni (utili i tappi per le orecchie!). Troverai una cucina condivisa e alcune basiche provviste di cibo. Si cucina solo cibo vegetariano. Nei frigo comuni vanno solo gli alimenti messi a disposizione per tutt3, e non saranno ammessi animali morti commestibili di nessun tipo. Si possono parcheggiare dei camper ma lo spazio è limitato, e le dimensioni devono essere compatibili e l’ingresso sarà concordato con l’organizzazione.

CRACK! non è un festival come gli altri, è un momento unico di condivisione basato su principi essenziali. Partecipare è condividerli, prendendone parte in prima persona. Ci aspettiamo responsabilità e aiuto nella gestione dello spazio che ti viene assegnato, sia per dormire che per mangiare che per esporre. La Fortezza è contro lo spaccio e contro ogni tipo di mercificazione, questo è uno spazio liberato e non un mercato. Non voltarti dall’altra parte nel caso di comportamenti violenti, sessisti, homo/lesbo/trans/fobici, razzisti, fascisti e/o non rispettosi del luogo, di chi lo attraversa e delle libertà che difende. In questo caso attivati! Parla con le tue amicizie e con chi hai intorno, cerca aiuto tra le persone del Forte. Sì significa Sì e tutto il resto è No. La festa e lo spazio sono per tutt3. HAPPINESS – CRACK! FESTIVAL 2026

The first emoticon, the first globally recognised logo, the first step towards the capitalist exploitation of a collective emotional value, stained with blood in Watchmen, distorted in the image of The Man Who Laughs, the expressionist proto-Joker, or just two dots and a bracket. If there were a currency for happiness, it would surely bear a smiley face. This spread is linked to the value represented by Happiness, a measurable horizon of capital, recorded annually by the World Happiness Report. Not a wellness ranking but a control apparatus and a political guidance.

Happiness is a globally widespread antidepressant, an anaesthetic in the hands of the Empire, a trap that produces slavery and conforms desires and hopes. Without happiness, the entire system, where enduring the unbearable is the daily task of every individual, would falter. Capital rewards lies and spreads them: they become models of life, boxes of information, and forms of spectacle. When we give up our emotions, we make ourselves available to falsify them too; when we conform them, the control machinery gets triggered. In the realm of emotional capitalism, Happiness is not one of our values and we do not intend to share the models that produce its rating. No happy escape route belongs to us. We demand a vocabulary of emotions that encompasses their full range. We prefer Joy, a burning barricade against the devastating army of Happiness. We prefer the Melancholy of struggle, which we see particularly difficult at this moment. We prefer Empathy with living beings, with crushed lives and a crushed world. We do not ask to measure our happiness, or to access the status that would give us the power to exercise it – we reject that power. In this edition of Crack! festival, we plan an escape from our shadow cone, staying away from the Happiness control beam and its forms of representation. We hold on tight to the spaces that we have freed from these models over time, which welcome our differences, our communities. We lay claim to this deviation from the Happiness track even when it generates unhappiness, and we will not cease to reclaim these spaces.

CRACK! fumetti dirompenti in Rome, as you know, is a self-managed and self-organized networked festival dedicated to comics and drawn and printed art. We are a festival for people that want to share their work, open to all individualities and multiplicities of underground productions. CRACK! is hosted and produced by Rome’s C.S.O.A. FORTEPRENESTINO: a squatted ancient fortress that in the last thirty-nine years has been returned to the city for a social, political and cultural use of the commons. It is a space that practices Autonomous Management, Solidarity and Consensus.

YOU ARE ASKED FOR A LIBERAL CROWDFUNDING SUBSCRIPTION. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REGISTRATION FEE AND DOES NOT GUARANTEE EXHIBITING YOUR WORK, BUT ALLOWS YOU TO ENTER CRACK! FOR ALL FOUR DAYS. It will not be possible to make this preliminary donation once at the festival. The donation should be made to our association at the time of sending the proposal (we suggest an individual fee of fifteen euros, which will be donated to ‘La Bagarre’ through the modalities found HERE https://fortepressa.net/crack2026/donate/). For each donation/proposal we will provide an entry wristband for the festival: as an exhibitor, if we have accepted your participation, or as a visitor, if we have declined it. With this donation we will be able to allocate a partial travel contribution for those from abroad. ENROLLMENTS ARE INDIVIDUAL. If you are part of a stable collective please indicate that and we will group the related entries together. You will likewise be able to indicate if you would like to share your bench with other artists. THE CALL CLOSES ON THE TWENTIFOURTH OF MAY 2026 AT 11 P.M. (GMT+1). Check your email for confirmation of your submission. We will try to respond within approximately one month since your registration. All autonomous published comics, small press and zine projects are preferred, (yes to stickers and patches, and we can evaluate projects of dolls/figures/puppets, as well as games). Yes to T-shirts and screen prints on fabric if they respond to a well-configured art project characterized in the logic of autonomous publishing. We welcome small publishers who recognize themselves in creative commons or no copyright. As always NO COPYRIGHT, NO SEXISM, NO FASCISM, NO RACISM. No craft or clothing projects, photography, painting, fan.art, insta.art/influencer/tiktoker/wannabist. In your proposal description try to give us a clear understanding of the spirit in which you are coming, SEND A PICTURE OF YOUR STAND, bring the state of the art of your work.

If you want to propose a music set (live or DJ) please drop an email to the address at the end of the page. If you want to think about a public presentation of a publishing project propose it: based on the proposals received we will create a dedicated space to make short meetings between friday and sunday.

TABLES: we will provide some tables in the basement but there are never enough for all artists, so please get organized and bring your table with you when possible (dimensions should be approximately 1.10m long by 0.80m wide). Point out essential needs in the notes of your application. The underground area of the 50 cells of CRACK! will be allocated only on the basis of exhibit designs. If you want to be in the cells, propose an idea in your application drive and describe it (with text and pictures). AT CRACK! THERE IS A CAMPGROUND ONCE YOU ARE ON THE REGISTRATION LIST. Bring your sleeping bag and sleeping pad, and your own tent. As an alternative to the tent you will be housed in communal rooms (earplugs are useful!). You will find a shared kitchen and some basic food supplies. In the communal kitchen you are required to cook vegetarian. If you put things in the shared coolers these become common property and no edible dead animals of any kind will be allowed. Campers can be parked inside, but space is limited, the dimensions must be compatible and the entry will be agreed upon with the organization.

CRACK! is not a festival like any other, it is a unique moment of sharing based on essential principles. To participate means to share these principles, and to actively take part in them. We expect from you responsibility and help in managing the space you are assigned, both to sleep and to eat. And to exhibit. The Fortress is firmly against drug dealing and against any kind of commodification, this is a liberated space and not a market. Do not look the other way if you witness violent, sexist, homo/lesbo/trans/phobic, racist, fascist, and/or disrespectful behaviors towards the place, those who live it, and the freedom it defends. In this case, be proactive! Talk to your friends and those around you, seek help among the people of the Fortress. Yes means Yes and everything else is No. The party and the space are for all. We respect the pronouns with which people identify. All bodies are valid. We care for all the artists. If we exist, we exist together.
